Hotels in the Bahamas

Holidays in Bahamas combine a laid-back pace of life with easy Caribbean chic - where luxury yachts and fine restaurants mingle with sleepy fishing wharves and brightly coloured clapboard houses. The main resorts cater to an upmarket clientele, with a wealth of golf courses and glamorous casinos, but holidays in the Bahamas are really all about the beach - and the 700 tiny islands of soft sand beckon to be explored.

With an 80°F average water temperature, the emerald waters surrounding the islands are clear, warm and inviting for a morning dip, and with hundreds of rainbow coral beneath the calm surface, holidays in Bahamas are perfect for snorkelling, diving and submarine trips. Thrill-seekers can try out a wide range of water-sports or a safari sea-plane, and the less adventurous can stay dry and take a cruise across the open seas.

Want to stay on dry land? Then cycle around the islands for some stunning natural scenery. Holidays in the Bahamas are a haven for nature-lovers, with forests and lagoons teeming with tropical wildlife.

Whether you choose a chilled-out or action packed holiday, fuel up for the days events with some delicious island cuisine. Tuck into plates of fresh seafood, piled high with plantain and sweet potato and don't miss the local speciality - conch deep fried in batter. With an island-wide party spirit and warm, friendly locals, holidays in the Bahamas don't end once the sun sets. Night owls can join the throngs on Paradise Island, and try their luck in the casinos, watch a live show and dance the night away to 'Junkanoo', the island's own unique sound.
